This calculator follows the most common international age system, where a person’s age increases on their birthday. For example, someone who has lived for 3 years and 11 months is considered 3 years old, and will turn 4 on their next birthday. This is the same system used in most Western countries.
In some cultures, age is counted differently. For instance, in the traditional Chinese age system, a person is born at age 1, and everyone’s age increases at the Chinese New Year instead of their birthday. This means a baby born just a day before New Year could be considered 2 years old only two days later!
Sometimes, the months and days calculation may seem confusing — especially when dates fall at the end of a month. For example, from February 28 to March 31 can be counted as 1 month and 3 days or just 1 month, depending on how you interpret it.
